Vintage: 2023 |100% Organic Mencía | Vines over 60 years old
The Mencía from Bodega Gancedo is a tribute to biodiversity and the tradition of Bierzo. Made under the principles of organic viticulture, this wine originates in the municipality of Arganza from selected vines with over six decades of history. It is a red that stands out for its frankness, where respect for the soil and climate translates into exceptional fruit purity and vibrant freshness.
Centenary Vineyard: The depth of the roots of its vines over 60 years old allows for the extraction of the mineral essence from the slate and limestone soils.
Handcrafted Production: After a manual harvest in 20 kg boxes, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, adding subtle complexity without detracting from the fruit.
Commitment to the Earth: Certified as organic farming, ensuring a wine free from synthetic chemical products and respectful of the environment.
Visual Phase: Intense cherry colour with a very bright and vivid purple rim.
Olfactory Phase: A distinctly fresh and fruity nose. It reveals intense memories of wild fruits, both red and black (blackberries, raspberries), which define the typicity of Mencía.
Gustatory Phase: On the palate it is light, fresh and easy to drink. It is a balanced wine that invites the next sip, always maintaining the presence of fresh fruit.
Suggested Pairing:
Its lightness and freshness make it the ideal companion for:
Everyday Cooking: Pasta with tomato sauce, artisan pizzas or meat rice dishes.
Bierzo Tapas: Empanada, Spanish omelette or mild cured meats.
Cheeses: Pairs perfectly with the Vallelongo Fresh Goat Cheese, where the acidity of the wine enhances the creaminess of the cheese.
